silent surgery
Lorena, at age 6, faces a difficult health condition: cancer. Seven months after the start of treatment, there is a change in the hospital staff and the current head of Pediatric Oncology is transferred. Who takes responsibility now is Ana, a very unusual doctor. This drastic change brings, in addition to discomfort, an insecurity fueled by prejudice and ignorance. "I didn't even know that deaf people could drive, let alone have surgery!"

“I just don't know how to begin recommending this story. People should read it simply because it exists and deals with extremely important subjects. We can see representation of deaf people, something quite uncommon in the media and literature. Furthermore, we see a small child with a terminal illness and we are tense throughout the story wanting to know what will happen to that sweet girl? We hope for the child's improvement, we hope for the deaf doctor's success and for the girl's parents to be more patient. Anyway, Silent Surgery is a necessary and light read, I loved it and I think many people should read it.”
