For Amanda, all the memories of Christmas were good, even the ones that came after her parents passed away. The girl was based on Lucas, her older brother, who was always present and helped her get on with her life. But something bad came along with Christmas Eve 2015, something Amanda wasn't prepared to face.
Hello, you can come. But, leave your shyness out. Empty your mind and allow yourself to feel something else. Everything here is for you. For you to live, wish, smile, be more. Here, in this corner of daydreams, I want you to feel at home, or anywhere else where you feel good. We will have a lot to live in these parts where everything has its value highlighted, be it the wind, the rain, the sun, the earth. I intend to assuage your fears and apprehensions with texts about small things that mean a lot. "Even when everything asks for A little more calm Even when the body asks for A little more soul Life doesn't stop" - Lenin
The summer of 1989 promised to be just another one among so many. Six friends, about to leave school behind, decide to escape the routine and the bittersweet goodbyes with an improvised trip. The destination: an isolated cabin, lent by Adam's uncle, hidden deep in the Blackwood Hills forest. A perfect place to drink, laugh, and enjoy their youth, far from everything and everyone. The isolation seems like paradise. Noah's old van crosses the dirt road, the lake reflects the light of the setting sun, and the promise of peaceful days welcomes them. But the Blackwood forest is not just a silent backdrop. It is ancient, jealous, and has its own rules.
A photography student opens a metal box forgotten at the back of his grandfather's closet. Inside: old negatives, notebooks his grandfather never let anyone read, a sheet music dedicated to someone no one in the family knows, and a little red beanie that, after thirteen years stored away, is still warm. The grandfather can no longer travel. The answers stayed in the North, in a village that may not even exist anymore. So the grandson goes in his place, in the middle of the Círio de Nazaré, with a camera, a best friend who refuses to stay home, and the feeling that some photos hold more than they show. Twelve photos. Eleven empty places. And what was left out of the frame.
For years, Lídia Sampaio considered the dogs of Jacarandás Street an assault on civilized coexistence. So when a morning dawns without a single bark, her first reaction is gratitude. The gratitude, however, does not last long. In Vila Olaria, animals begin to disappear, inexplicable marks appear on the walls, and certain houses begin to harbor spaces that should never exist. While the residents seek explanations reasonable enough to continue their routines, Lídia discovers that there are far worse inconveniences than a noisy neighborhood. Between supernatural horror, everyday absurdity, and the melancholy of small absences, the tale investigates what we have learned to ignore, especially when its warnings blend with the usual noises of life.
