Factory Defects

Synopsis

To all the people around Polliana and Alexander, the fact that they didn't look standard was always treated with extreme unkindness, as if it was some kind of contagious disease or just a very wrong way of living and behaving. While Lia is constantly mocked for dressing and looking too boyish, Alex goes through the same situations for having ironically too girl-like traits — but the difference is that, unlike her, he doesn't care at all about that. Living a life filled with extreme coincidences and pranks played by what some call "fate", Alex and Liana are challenged to go through all the difficulties posed by bullying, social disapproval and problems with friends and family - which includes Lia's crush on her gay best friend, Alex's problems with his younger brother and some troublesome friends that the two end up making, all in the most unusual, fun and sentimental ways possible.

“Before talking about the story itself, I need to point out that this is a type of genre that I don't read often. I found Factory Defects by accident. But, as she was already there, so was I, and the need to read was great... It turns out that, in the first chapter, our main character, Liana, already won my heart. And she'll get hers too, I bet. You can't help but feel at least a little bit of affection for her, that is. But that's not all: the rhythm of the story, the wonderfully crafted characters, both physically and psychologically, the songs mentioned (I will be eternally grateful to the author for introducing me to One OK Rock) and of course, that air of adolescence that those who are in This phase can be identified and older people, like me, miss it. And that's because I'm not talking about Alex, my favorite character... But there's no way to talk about him without giving away spoilers, so I'll keep quiet! Anyway, with all this wonderful vibe, I'm sure you'll fall in love and won't stop reading, like me. And, like me, you will be surprised, your mouth will drop open and your jaw will drop to the floor, when the entire direction of the story takes a super twist and grabs you for good! In short: read. You will not regret.”

The rebellious Mikaela more than ticks all the boxes to reach the top of girls that Miles, the straightest guy in the entire school, can't stand at all. Perhaps by an irony of fate, she also ends up immediately hating that typical studious boy's upturned nose that Miles has... The attention-deprived near-rocker simply hates Miles' tacky, old-fashioned looks - that same centered boy nicknamed daddy's boy by the whole school. He, no less venomous, makes it clear that his opinion in relation to Mika's aggressive and flashy look is that it is nothing more than something fleeting, futile and totally "fad". The question is: are appearances and snap judgments really that important in all this? For the pride of these two, what comes out of their mouths is surely a "yes"... The problem is that this is not always the answer of their hearts. But, in all this endless dispute between styles and totally different ways of seeing the world, which team will emerge victorious, after all? The young, fun, "cool" and "mainstream"? Or would it be the most adult, serious, mature and completely "CDF"? Side by side, Coca-Cola and coffee will be a combination that won't let you sleep anytime soon.

Mas vou me esforçar.
