October
Dedicated to Paul Dedrick Gray. Forever #2 Life is something flourishing, inconsequential, incoherent. It can be colorful if you stop to notice the leaves that fall from the trees so gently when autumn arrives; Or on the streets painted yellow in summer. It's amazing down to the smallest details. It can be a roller coaster without any shame, and no one escapes this adrenaline caused. The highs for those who want to scream for freedom, feeling the cool breeze touch their face; The lows for those who, due to misinterpretation, did not have the ideal confidence to believe that destiny is what we make ourselves. October is synonymous with Autumn, and this season of the year defines some strange paths. Some people finally discover who they are, others not so much. The leaves fall, but only because eventually things have to change. It didn't have to be that way, but by the irony of fate that self-made thing came in handy. Suddenly that Christmas tree no longer had its colored lights, and the starry sky was just a black hole above us. The breeze from the top of the roller coaster had touched his face, and at the same speed that he had made himself believe it would be forever, the descent also reached the same speed. And October was still there, along with its season. Yeah, the immaculately green leaves on the trees must eventually fall, turning everything grayer. And as if everything had doomed, that heart whose name bore this feat, was not yet ready to lose its main strength.

“Yes, I'm biased when it comes to talking about xDropDeadx's fics, which are always GENIUS, but I couldn't let this one go. "October" is the kind of story that happens when you ask yourself "what if...". They say that this type of phrase doesn't make history, but here it DOES. A lot. "What if" Paul was still alive? What his life would be like... especially with his wife and the new member of the family... His daughter. This is very beautiful, and the way the author works with this is very striking. So real. You almost feel like you're following the first steps of October's life (with the great feat of making a baby's life seem super interesting with very different events, thanks to the members of Slipknot, of course), his turbulent childhood until his teenage days. This fic is recommended for every Slipknot fan who, when watching the most recent shows, still looks for a certain bass player there, in that space between Jim and Chris, and wonders... "what if?"”
