Lucis, a realm of magic, powered by the strength of its crystal. And Niflheim an empire known for its vast Magitek machinery. The two fought for centuries, until finally the king of Lucis, Regis Lucis Caelum, was murdered by his own royal guard, the Blades of the King. Niflheim's victory was short-lived, without a Caelum to wield the crystal's magic, an ancient plague returned to the world of Eos. The nights grew longer, and monsters that were only myths from a distant age resurfaced, attacking, killing and spreading their rotten disease across the lands. Soon the whole world would be stained by the unforgivable darkness. However, even with this period of horror, people still take comfort in the prophecy of the King of Light, the one who will bring lasting peace by purging the Lunar Plague from the world. And many of the survivors will do anything to see the prophecy come true. The story of a simple Lucis farmer, Iustitia Petrum, will be a journey of redemption and revelation. Even the simplest of people will become noble warriors to be a royal guard worthy of a chosen king.

In the year 2155, scientists invented war machines and devices that imitated the magical elements (earth, water, wind and fire), after many years of the invention of these machines and devices, academies were opened to teach young people to manipulate (for self-defense or in cases of war) or create these devices (both for their own use and for sale), not long after the creation of these gyms four young men (two men and two women) entered one of the gyms and to everyone's surprise, they had natural control over the elements, one controls the wind another controlled fire another controlled the earth and the other controlled the water, it didn't take long for them to graduate to live in the city of Nexus, but life for them there can end up being a little difficult.
After making a peace deal with Tenebrae, Nifheim became impatient with the various wrong attitudes the nation was taking, and decided to end the nation's owners, taking Tenebrae and all its firstfruits for good. With the death of the king and queen of Tenebrae and fearing that their nation will be next, Noctis finds himself with several questions in his head: Why does Lucis have a barrier? How do you create the barrier? What is the purpose of a king? Why is Nifheim so ambitious to seize something that doesn't belong to them? Is Lunafreya okay with everything happening on Tenebrae? What does he fight for? And among other questions. With his trip to Altissia, Noctis hopes to find Lunafreya and clear up all his doubts.
