This is not a story about the little girl who was going to deliver a basket of candy to her grandmother. This is the story of a mysterious murder that takes place in the city of fables. Something strange is moving in the shadows, and as Harriet RedHood is the only witness she is tasked with speaking to the sheriff, Sammy Wolf. An unpleasant task, but deep down, she harbors a one-sided passion for the wolf, who will help her in her case.

As the title suggests, this is a story about troubled people. Our main character is a troubled 16-year-old girl named Katrina. Katrina is an orphan and moves in with her brother Hugo. In the new house she meets another resident, meets new friends and meets some childhood friends. The school is weird, the principal is crazy, the students are troubled and falling in love is always a possibility, even for people so opposite.
