Carpe Librum

"I wish I could be in some other time or space. With someone else's soul and face." (Someday I'll Be Saturday Night - Bon Jovi) Have you ever imagined yourself living another life? Can you imagine how amazing, how good, how difficult it could be? Well, we figured it out. This is a collection of short stories based on the premise of the wonderful book Every Day, by David Levithan, in which, for unknown reasons, the protagonist wakes up every day in someone else's body. With that in mind, we, teachers, staff, students and friends who are part of the Carpe Librum group, held a literary contest at our school and the result is in this fic. The order of posting is as follows: 1 - The first three stories are from the organizers; 2 - Then come the top three; 3 - The one chosen by popular vote; 4 - The other two short stories; 5 - The others in random order. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a brief synopsis of the tale for you, the reader, to choose the ones that most inspired your curiosity. We hope, however, that you read them all, that you are encouraged to leave your impressions and that you have as much fun as we do.

"Waking up and seeing everything you love disappear, while you repeatedly open and close your eyes is definitely a breathtaking thing. It's better to stay asleep, with your eyes tightly closed." Mandleth is a young American girl, with unattainable dreams and a terrible shadow that covered her entire childhood, separating her from the label of "normal child". Mandleth had it all: a family, a house, food. But his tormented mind took it all away from him, now having an empty room in an asylum and a plate of food once a day. This story should be forgotten, but Mandleth recounts it every day, in warm whispers in the ears of those who stop to listen.
