At the age of 16, (the age at which the last test/ritual to become a complete witcher took place) the two were like brothers. AXL woke up, knowing he must beat his master in a battle, as the last barrier before becoming a witcher and slaying monsters almost as foul as humans.....he knew that day would change his life, but he didn't expect what would happen to him and Geralt during the battle.
