Joe Kaisaka abandonou o Pirata do Espaço, assim como deixou a Ilha Akane, seus antigos companheiros, a memória das batalhas, sua vida de piloto e as lembranças de um amor impossível. Até que, um dia, uma comitiva científica gailariana vem à Terra, trazendo alguém que ele tentou deixar para trás. O reencontro desperta sentimentos que Joe julgava superados. Ao mesmo tempo, nas profundezas do oceano Antártico, uma nova ameaça começa a se mover, colocando em risco os planos de cooperação entre a Terra e Gailar. Joe ainda não sabe o que está por vir.
