The Condense

Just another mission full of mysteries that the Musketeers have to carry out without knowing the exact details. It would have been just another normal mission if d'Artagnan hadn't grown attached to the child and ignored the mission's purpose.

from end to beginning

Aramis only smiled in response, he sank into the other's blue eyes, and also into the memories that look brought him. He knew he was leaving, and he wanted to relive, even in the few minutes he felt he had left, the important moments of his life. He saw in every mark on Athos' face the countless battles they had faced together, and he remembered the taste of victory and the relief of having survived once more. She thought of the countless women who had slept with their faces against his chest after a romantic night of gentle, intense passion. And he also remembered the constant emptiness he felt in his heart every time they left. The sweet parting the next morning made him all too aware that whatever he'd had with the girl during the night was just a momentary charm, physical surrender, it was just the carnal act of making love. But to feel it, to understand that feeling that caused war and peace, was something foreign to Aramis. Until Athos was no longer just its captain.

The other is Good, it is joy, peace, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. — The grandson thought about it for a few minutes and asked his grandfather: — Which wolf wins? — The old Indian simply replied: — What do you feed. In the vast and indifferent fabric of space-time, where improbability is a constant and logic is rarely invited for tea, there exists the Department of Interdimensional Bureaucracy (DIB). Its purpose? To ensure that reality remains minimally functional or, at least, sufficiently confusing so that no one notices otherwise. But something went wrong. Horribly, catastrophically, fill-out-three-copies-of-reports wrong. Immanuel Breckford, a man whose greatest achievement until then was remembering where he left his keys, unexpectedly finds himself involved in one of the DIB's most catastrophic failures. Upon receiving a Temporary Ontological Adjustment Request Form 42/B, his existence is recalculated. To correct this cosmic blunder, the DIB sends Artemis Xyllan-7, Senior Auditor and specialist in metaphysical disasters. Armed with an expired stopwatch, a pen that alters probabilities, and the patience of a black hole, she has little time (and even less desire) to fix the problem before the universe decides to file Immanuel away permanently.
