The Child of Two Worlds

Long ago, Xadia was a land rich in magic and charms. Formerly, there were only the six primary sources of magic: The sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the sky and the ocean, which were dominated by all living beings in Xadia. But then, hundreds of thousands of years ago, humans became greedy and insatiable using their magical dominance to subjugate other creatures until reaching one of the oldest legends in the magical lands: the hybrid between a human mage and a elf. This caused the dragons and elves to take all the power of the humans, cutting off, at once, all contact with the arcana. At least until the young human prince Callum rediscovered this power and ushered in a new era between the magical lands of Xadia and the human realms. A union marked in the oldest histories of Xadia.

In the vast and indifferent fabric of space-time, where improbability is a constant and logic is rarely invited for tea, there exists the Department of Interdimensional Bureaucracy (DIB). Its purpose? To ensure that reality remains minimally functional or, at least, sufficiently confusing so that no one notices otherwise. But something went wrong. Horribly, catastrophically, fill-out-three-copies-of-reports wrong. Immanuel Breckford, a man whose greatest achievement until then was remembering where he left his keys, unexpectedly finds himself involved in one of the DIB's most catastrophic failures. Upon receiving a Temporary Ontological Adjustment Request Form 42/B, his existence is recalculated. To correct this cosmic blunder, the DIB sends Artemis Xyllan-7, Senior Auditor and specialist in metaphysical disasters. Armed with an expired stopwatch, a pen that alters probabilities, and the patience of a black hole, she has little time (and even less desire) to fix the problem before the universe decides to file Immanuel away permanently.

The world they knew no longer exists. Now, all the survivors live in a refuge created by a scientist who died in an attempt to save humanity from something that even he cannot explain. Five years later, his son Victor, who managed to be saved when he was fourteen, and his friends set out to search their new city, which the survivors dubbed the 'New Order'. The quest, which once seemed to be just for fun, turns out to reveal a secret that sparks new hope for the survivors.
