OBS: I always thought that Robin loved Ted, not at first like he did, but this love developed and she gradually discovered that she couldn't offer what he wanted. In this episode that takes place in the seventh season, I didn't find her answer sincere. Robin wanted to set Ted free to discover and get what he can't offer. He always wanted children, Robin couldn't offer that to him so he preferred lying to making him give up on his dreams.

How I Met Your Mother Fanfiction Collection
Collection of fanfics from different fandons - Accepting requests
Fic set in the last forever, more specifically, in the last scene. Well... I'm part of that little bunch of freaks who loved the finale of how i met your mother. And here's why: he's real. As the whole series went. What I love most about HIMYM is the way they make us feel close, as if we were part of that crazy family. HIMYM achieved what, I don't know if another comedy series has done it, but she had a heart, and like all hearts, he doesn't always have happy moments. We cried, at least I cried, in several episodes and laughed in many others. Sometimes I did both at the same time. What I'm trying to say is: that's life. It takes you a decade to find the love of your life, and eventually, you might lose it. Because we don't live in a fairy tale. But that doesn't mean we weren't happy. And you know what? I think it's wonderful. We have this romantic idea that there is a person out there who has been specially shaped for us. But forget that the world is not perfect and that maybe, if you are lucky in this life, you will bump into some imperfect love along the way. That love that takes away the judgment. But that fills you. Ted, lucky as no one could imagine, lived these two loves. He found the right person, his the one, and lived immensely happily with her for another decade. But she's gone. Because life is like that. And luckily, Ted still had that love that slept soundly in his old heart, that love that was never perfect but was always there. And, like Robin once, all it takes to live a great love is the right time. Sooner or later, he will knock on your door. And he hit for Ted. After all, why else would he be telling that "little" story to his kids of how he met their mother and would it start right from the day he met Robin. It was all there. From the start. And as imperfect as it was, for me, it was perfect.
