Always With Me
Cordelia MacLearie is a young witch from one of Scotland's most traditional pure-blooded Celtic families, belonging to Slytherin House. Despite all the pain she has suffered, the girl dreams of recognition and of bringing back to her family the glory that once belonged to them, even if she has to assume roles and wear masks that never pleased her. Dealing with ethical clashes and political chaos in a few decades in which Voldemort's power spread across Britain, the girl, becoming a woman, discovers, little by little, that not everything - and everyone - is just what they seem, and that even the most astute wizard can misjudge someone at first sight. Especially a certain member of the Black family.

“I was quite discouraged by the Harry Potter category here on Nyah. There are good stories, but they don't captivate me as a reader, and they end up erring on the side of excess, either by interpreting the books wrongly or by using the Universe in which the story takes place in a careless way. But all that changed when I found Always With Me. To begin with, I want to admit that I'm a big fan of the Marauders and everything that involves them, and that's why I'm always very happy to find a story that bring in essence. Furthermore, here the characters created by the wonderful J.K. Rowling are not used as extras, obtaining the deserved prominence that some fanfics do not give. Menta manages to use characters that don't belong to him and that are already well known by the public, bringing a reinterpretation that makes us re-enchanted with them again. That's what happened to me when reading AWM and coming across several well-known names that were so faithful to their personalities from the original work, but with a touch of newness that made the reading simply delicious. But even though the characters created by J.K. are splendid, I must admit that the ones who really steal the show here are those created by Menta herself. She, with all her talent for working with several different personalities, created the best OC I've ever seen in a Harry Potter fic: Cordelia MacLearie, I chose to love you. And don't think you'll only fall in love with Cora, because her friends, Grace Macbeth and Phyllis McNair, are two precious creatures who must be protected from the world. The internal conflicts of each of them are revealed throughout the chapters, captivating the reader and leaving them curious to know where it all leads. As the wonderful author doesn't seem to like leaving any character without depth or prominence, we have varied POVs, from the OCs we love, to others who aren't so much. Romance is another strong point. Or were they romances? Not content with making us ship just ONE couple, Menta gives us at least TWO others, in addition to reenchanting us with ships that were already presented in the original work. The fact that she explores so well the relationship between Sirius, whose personality does not belong to her, and Cora, who was entirely created by her brilliant mind, only demonstrates how much potential this girl has as a writer, and gives more voice to my desire to have a entirely your work in bookstores in my city. So far I haven't said much about Cora, right? It's that story of saving the best for the end. In fact, I think the success of the fic is due, in large part, to having a main character as special as her. Starting with her being a Slytherin and not being as prejudiced towards Muggle-borns as others around her already made her move up ten houses on my concept scale. And that's not all: all the chapters that involve her "special" magic are a true lesson in Celtic culture, and I can only imagine how much Menta really loves this story to spend so much time on research, trying to enrich her writing - and getting it. Finally, of course, I couldn't forget to talk about the rest of the MacLearie clan, the wonderful little sisters Bairbre and Mairéad, and her mother, Guinevere, are characters with captivating individual stories, especially the last one. Not to mention that the girls are two bundles of cuteness, even more so than Grace and Lis, and very important in the life of our main character. The icing on the cake is that there is another detail, one that must have gone unnoticed by someone in a hurry, but that certainly caught the attention of more attentive eyes: the story takes place from 1976, and, therefore, has as its backdrop one of the worst periods in the history of the wizarding world.Tom Riddle, the feared Voldemort, was beginning to install a reign of terror across Great Britain, with legions of Death Eaters spread across the region and several recruits about to graduate from Hogwarts. For this reason, we can expect to see several well-known names, with some of the most cruel and feared Death Eaters showing up here at AWM. So, in addition to being a love story, Always With Me is about prejudice, segregation, loyalty and courage, and that's what makes it my favorite story in the entire category. Menta, you are an incredible writer and I couldn't love your work more. Thank you so much for bringing these wonderful characters to life. I can certainly speak on behalf of all of your readers when I say that we will always be with you. ♡”
