shmuel was a Jewish boy, who tried to give the best for his mother since his father died, his mother was called Kiara, and he couldn't support the house, pay rent, and buy his son's materials with only his cleaning jobs, then shmuel helped her by being a shoeshine boy, one beautiful day in the year 1939, some armed soldiers arrived who took them to a large concentration camp, and since then shmuel and Kiara tried to escape from this concentration camp.

When he arrives in Haja vista he finds himself alone in a boring place. From his room you can see a fenced-in place full of people in 'striped pajamas' (which was actually a concentration camp).
