"When the Great Pink Diamond was shattered The Blue Diamond cried. And no one else? Rose Quartz won the war against Homeworld Who else won it?" — A paraphrase of Bertolt Brecht's "Questions of a Literate Worker" The story of the Great Gem War has always been hidden from Steven, and it's easy to understand why: how explain to a child the atrocities of a war? Mostly a war where sisters killed sisters! However, not only gems fought in this war, but humans too, and this story is about one of them. In the 30th century B.C. Egyptian fishermen found mysterious pillars scattered along the banks of the River Nile. Fearing that they would fall into the sacred waters, contaminating them, an order was given for the workers to remove them. In the process, several pillars were damaged, a fact that provoked the wrath of an army that Egypt had never seen before. After a withering attack on Egypt's capital Memphis, young Prince Amennekht is saved by Rose Quartz and begins training to become a Crystal Gem.
