After 10 years Stella Bonasera returns to New York to meet her friends and her old love Mac Taylor. Will Mac Taylor forgive her and give her a second chance? As they say, everyone deserves a second chance.
With Nick everything seemed to flow well. He was a charming lawyer and was willing to win her over. However, everything changed drastically when she was next to Mac, who with his charm and some not-so-innocent flirting managed to make her standards considerably higher. He had all the qualities she wanted in a man, but he was also her boss. Could she give in to our beloved detective's charm instead of giving Nick a chance?
When a little girl's murderer gets away with it, Mac loses his mind and becomes embroiled in a fight that jeopardizes his future at the lab. Stella is willing to do anything to help him, including risking her own life.
A cruel murder shocks the population of New York: a woman who had just given birth in a complicated birth in a maternity hospital is brutally attacked in her hospital room without anyone seeing her attacker. When Mac Taylor is tasked with handling the case, he discovers that his victim is an old girlfriend from his youth, whose current husband is being investigated for money laundering and drug dealing by the New Orleans criminalistics team, led by Stella Bonasera. Upon meeting the victim's daughter, Mary Jane Wilson, Mac discovers that the newly hired Homicide detective has a lot more to hide than they realize and that she is likely the next victim.
Brad, a former technician completely hooked on Stella, returns to New York after years away, accompanied by his sister, Amelia Cooper, the lab's newest hire. Afraid that Brad still hasn't forgotten her and intending to keep him away, Stella makes a rather bold proposal to Mac. Will he come across?
Mac and Stella face a double blind date that doesn't turn out the way they both imagined. Still, Stella is convinced that Mac will find his new love. Will this "new love" be on one of these dates, or has he been in front of Mac the whole time?
