Loving someone forever requires you to live forever, right? Luckily for Magnus Bane, the promise of eternal life was his reality, but not for the man he had fallen in love with. Someone who would someday have wrinkles and gray hair, someone vulnerable who would someday grow old and die in his arms. Magnus had accepted the consequences the moment he decided to give his love to Alec Lightwood.

In a futuristic New York, 16 years ago after Jonathan Morgenstern's attacks, many children of shadowhunters of the past were protected from the world of demons, fairies, vampires, werewolves and sorcerers, knowing only mundane reality. In today's age to fight demons, active shadowhunters try to find them at all costs in order to train them to exercise their true half-angel and half-human nature. Anna, after six months in the shadow world and her training, narrates her story of how she adapts to the new reality and routine at the Shadowhunter Academy, where she involves passion, action, love, danger and demons daily.
