This story takes place in the same universe as the short story "The Angel of Death", and works as a sequel to it, although it can be read independently.

Four divers begin an exploration of the Ordinskaya underground cave in the Ural Mountains, Russia, and only Dr. Erick Bernstein returns, between life and death. While tissue samples from Dr. Bernstein are analyzed in the laboratory, a team from the B.S.A.A. is sent to the Urals with the aim of investigating the cave and discovering that it is yet another case of Bioterrorism. When a heavy snowstorm isolates the members of the B.S.A.A. in the cave and forces them to advance further and further into the Sphere complex, a testing ground for Umbrella, they are forced to cooperate with their enemies if they want to leave the complex alive, as the base's self-destruct system has been initiated, and the whole place will explode in 24 hours. However, the creatures that still inhabit the Sphere have other plans for them.
