The Great Golden Phoenix

Synopsis

She just didn't expect to live. Not now, not after what she'd done. But, by some reason of fate, she survived, and now, she has to deal with an eccentric captain, an adviser cook and a pirate crew who have given her a new name. Will Anne-Jane be able to live around men? Will she be able to hide her past, which she wouldn't want a pirate to know, or will the rule that pirates have no secrets among her crew be taken to heart? And worse (or better), will she resist Lois' charms?

In a city devastated by war, we follow the journey of two survivors who have learned, each in their own way, to live with violence, loss, and loneliness. He does not know that he saved her life. She knows only that he is more dangerous than the killers who threatened her. Neither of them seeks company. Nor do they believe that there is still room for kindness in a world where surviving demands so much. But a dead boy and an almost insignificant act of kindness end up intertwining their fates. Between small acts of care, silences, and difficult choices, two strangers discover that surviving the war may not be as difficult as learning to live after everything they have lost.
