This story is an alternate sequel to the 1997 film, "Men in Black", developing the personalities of agents J and L and the relationship between them, as well as expanding the franchise's mythology, and further exploring certain elements of the saga, which were only superficially presented in the first film. The issue of immigration is even more in-depth, providing a more socially critical content to the saga. The plot disregards the two sequels that the original film had, also trying to establish some coherence between the original film and the animated series.
